One of the greatest blessings we have as believers is Gods family. Unfortunately, for a lot of us, especially young believers, we live feeling like we are all alone in our walk with Jesus.
I remember being in Zambia, Africa the summer of 2009 and having a friend named Coen share an African proverb with me, it simply says: “If you want to go quickly, go alone. if you want to go far, go together.” Over the 5 weeks of our “adventure” I learned just how valuable my team was to me. When you are in rough conditions and far from home (and your car keeps breaking down & your getting sick & and the mosquitos are eating you alive & tired of eating dried fish) a hug, high five, or simply a smile from a friend can change everything!
Christianity was never meant to be lived out alone! As Jesus followers we all must learn, just as I did in Zambia, that the people around us are vital! Rick Warren says it this way,
”You were created for community, fashioned for fellowship, and formed for a family.”
Community is not an added “plus” of following Jesus, it is a necessity. As we dive in this week at refuge we hope to find out exactly what the Bible says about our relationships as the family of God.
We are super excited to see what God does!
